2023-2024 BIA WEST APPLICATION

Application Deadline: Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 4: 00 PM.

The lottery will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 9: 30 AM.

To enter the lottery, students must submit an application before the deadline to be eligible for the grade they are applying for and be Baltimore City residents.

Note: Children must turn 5 by September 1 to be eligible for Kindergarten and 6 by September 1 to be eligible for First Grade. Some students with later birthdays may be eligible to apply for early admission through the Baltimore City Schools' Office of Student Learning. To learn more about how to apply for early admission to Kindergarten or First Grade, please contact the school.

BIA West accepts new Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and 6th Grade Students. BIA West will not have 5th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. Please call for more information.

Does the applicant have a sibling who currently attends BIA West?

A sibling is a child who shares at least one parent or legal guardian with the applicant. If the relationship cannot be verified by the school system's existing online records, you may be asked to provide supporting documentation such as birth certificates or court documents

Are you a resident of Baltimore City?

Please note that as a public charter school within the Baltimore City public school system, we must give first preference to Baltimore City residents. Only Baltimore City residents can be entered in the lottery. Non-city residents remain at the bottom of the waiting list until all city residents have been placed. BCPS charges a tuition fee of approximately $10,000 per year for non-city residents.

Language Immersion Track Selection

Please indicate your choice of language in order of preference. You will be entered in the lottery/processed for your first choice language. You will receive either a placement in your first choice language track or a number on the waiting list for your first choice language track. You can request changes in writing. If you are on the waiting list, we can move you to a language track with immediate openings upon request. Students can only be on one track or on one waiting list at a time. There are no changes once you have accepted an offer in a language track. Students remain in the same language track from Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
